Direct Marketing Group, formerly known as Direct, A Marketing Services Company, was founded by Gregg Smith, Executive Vice President, and Tom Rothstein, President & CEO, both of whom have spent most of their careers in the direct marketing industry. Smith and Rothstein each graduated with BA degrees from the University of Minnesota where Smith played Division I football and Rothstein starred for the U of M hockey team, serving as its captain for two years.
Prior to forming DMG, Smith & Rothstein both worked for Target Response, a direct marketing communications firm based in Minneapolis. Before joining Target Response, Rothstein spent five years as a district manager for US Life, a large 3rd party insurance marketer based in Chicago, IL.
